Motion 5.x: Create and Animate Bezier Masks [Video]

[This is an excerpt from a recent on-line video training: Create and Animate Masks in Motion 5, which you can download from our store. You can also access all our training when you become a Video Training Library subscriber.]

Masks remove portions of an image; and many editors find masks confusing. However, video editors have been doing something similar to masking for a long time using the Crop tool. So, while the tools are different, the concept of hiding portions of an image is not. In Motion, we have a LOT more options when it comes to masking. If all you know about masks are the masking effects in Final Cut Pro X, you are missing most of the best features in masking.

In this short video tutorial, host Larry Jordan shows how to create non-geometric masks using Bezier lines and curves, how to modify the shape of a curve (and the shape of the mask) using Bezier control points, then how to animate the shape using keyframes.
